Welcome to The Franciscan Nardini Sisters
of the Holy Family

A Message for You

Inspired and tasked by our founder Father Paul Joseph Nardini, we, the Francican Nardini Sisters of the Holy Family seek to bring the Good News of God to the poor, children, the sick and the marginalised in the communities we live in. We respond to the signs of our times through holistic interventions with emphasis on physical and spiritual upliftment of the people we serve.

Our vows of poverty, obedience and chastity guide us into a deeper relationship with God and his people. Connected with the whole Catholic Church we dedicate our lives to a life of prayer and intercession for the needs of the world.

Together with my fellow Franciscan Nardini Sisters (FNS) in Maria Ratschitz, Nkandla, Richards Bay and Vryheid, I extend a warm welcome to you.

Our vision is to become more and more a Community, reflecting a strong family compelled by the love of Christ in our service to the people.

Our Communities

Vryheid

The German Sisters arrived in South Africa with a deep sense of mission and purpose. Their journey took them to Vryheid, which was their first stop in this new land.

Nkandla

The Sizanani Outreach Programme was launched in Nkandla. Meeting the patients in their home environment made the sisters aware that lasting cure can only be guaranteed by an improvement of their living conditions.

Richards Bay

In 1975, under the leadership of the newly appointed Bishop Mansuet D. Biyase, the Diocese took a signficant step forward by purchasing a piece of land in Meerensee.

Maria Ratschitz

Maria Ratschitz, a mission foundation established over a century ago by the Mariannhill Missionaries, holds a revered place in the history of the Diocese of Dundee and is known as the “Mother Church” of the diocese.

In our religious community, we express our charism in two ways.
Firstly, through spending time with the Lord, praying for the needs of the church, of our society and our own families;
and secondly, through an active life taking care of the people entrusted to us. Encouraged by our founder,
Paul Joseph Nardini, we are serving vulnerable people like the sick, the frail,
families with other diverse needs and, in a special way, children.

Our Founder

Blessed Paul Joseph Nardini.

Nothing will separate me from Jesus, neither joy nor sorrow, neither fear nor pain. To Him I want to cling with humble obedience, profound self-denial and with burning love.

– P. J. Nardini
